And just like that, in the blink of an eye Key is in the Detail has officially turned 1!
Happy Birthday to meeeee!
It's crazy to think that this time last year I just turned to Instagram as a place to save my ideas or work I had created in the events and weddings industry over time. As I gained more and more connections, it became apparent people were inspired by my posts and I was giving planning tips and wedding guidance to people on the daily. How exciting, my own little wedding hub to inspire future brides was like a dream come true!
When COVID-19 hit just moments after, it was easy to view the negatives. However, KIITD has been the biggest and best distraction for me. For someone that had never been out of work since the age of 16, it was hard to switch off, so I invested all my time and energy to create a little bubble of my own, one filled with aspiration and creativity. I studied Events Management at University and have been fortunate enough to take this across the globe with me, so I grabbed the opportunity to slow down, invest in myself and what I love the most with nothing but passion, determination and pure love for the weddings industry and that really is how we made it to a one year milestone.
A milestone that wouldn't have been possible of course, without the utterly AMAZING industry suppliers I met along the way. So many lovely people are behind these small businesses and they were and still are so willing to advise me and want to hear my story. Whats more is now they recommend KIITD to their own couples as the perfect bundle of energy to plan a wedding for them. This makes me do a happy dance, every single time. It's an honour to work alongside them.
There are a small handful of suppliers I'm genuinely so grateful to call friends. Some I've known since school, others I didn't know existed until lockdown, but somehow in all this craziness, we brought light to each other and found a way to inspire, create and share. Having people to bounce off like that is really quite special, and so needed when restrictions are in place to see anyone. Zoom and gin saved us on many occasions.
In true KIITD style, no birthday celebration was going unnoticed, so following all lockdown restrictions, I roped in some virtual help from my supplier friends to crete a doorstep celebration showcasing all of our services, in the prettiest and stylish of forms. As any event planner will tell you, when it comes to outdoor celebrations, always have a back up, and I did because the rain and wind were not on our side, but again, in true event planner style, you roll with it and find a way to own it.
When the reality is better than the mood board, thats when you know you've smashed it. What an epic team. Let me introduce you...
The beauty and the brains! There is nothing this amazing woman doesn't know about the wedding industry. She is busy as the Retail Director across three beautiful boutiques in Yorkshire or being the queen of Insta reels, Holly is forever beaming with positivity and creative ideas. Her honesty and companionship is exactly what you would expect to find in a leading bridal designer and retailer giving brides the perfect yes to the dress memory. Holly's bridal gowns were perfect for this lockdown home shoot, complete with all the veils and accessories just as you would find as a bride when looking to have the full Elite Bridal experience.
I just had to involve these fabulous ladies in our celebration because their styling ideas and prop hire collection will ALWAYS compliment my vision, and that is exactly what you want from your venue stylist right? When I told them about the colour theme and styling I had in mind, they were on board doing what they do best (virtually ofc!). We decided the royal blue and gold accents would really pop against the sunflower yellow and cherry blossom pink, do you love the outcome as much as we do?
When your florals require a pop of colour, something authentic and whimsical Vix is your woman!
You'll usually find her down at her allotment growing and picking all her wildflowers, but when I mentioned a birthday celebration shoot, she dropped everything to combine the most beautiful bright florals.
As expected, because it beams through her personality, Vix went above and beyond to deliver sunshine and rainbows in flower form.
Elegance and luxury is guaranteed with Grace Eva Cakes so it is really refreshing to be able to verbally explain an idea to someone, that just understands you and delivers it in cake form, always exceeding expectations. Grace's designs are bespoke too, so this allowed the element of using our KIITD logo on the beautiful cake she created, and cupcakes which were a business birthday surprise from Mr KIITD.
I'm not sure if there's been a day thats passed in the last year that we've managed to not find something to talk about, cake is always a hot topic with me!
A breathtaking wedding venue in the middle of the Yorkshire Wolds amongst 12000 vines was always going to be a fabulous combination for couples looking to get married in the area so involving Alice in this birthday celebration was a no brainer, after all, whats a party without wine, even if you have to party virtually!
I can fully appreciate the hard work now that goes into being the concept creator, stylist and photographer for a shoot. Given the restrictions, like all other suppliers Tabitha could not be present either, however she was on hand to edit the images I was able to take and knowing how amazing she is with lighting and being such a big fan of her edits, we were super grateful to have her on board!
