Those were the words used by the couple to describe their dream day, and thats exactly how it turned out.
We spoke to India to find out a little bit more about these childhood sweet hearts ended up being Mr&Mrs and what made their wedding, perfect for them.
'Myself and Tommy met at secondary school, we had maths together and was seated next to each other. To be honest I don’t think we really got on at first, but I know I liked him more than he did me initially. Something obviously changed for him because at just 14 years old Tommy asked me to be his girlfriend. We’ve been together ever since."
We love how organic this story is, but then, that pretty much sums these two up!
What with becoming dog parent to Biggie and Henrdix, home renovations and many family holidays in between India said, "10 years on, Tommy booked us a holiday to Tenerife at the same hotel where we went to on our very first holiday together. It was our 10 year anniversary and in the same room we once stayed in years before on our balcony he proposed, it was so private and just myself and him, I couldn’t believe it finally happened on our 10th year of been together. It was exactly how I would of wanted to be proposed to, I always feared it would be in a public place in front of people. However it was very us, very chilled, relaxed and meaningful.
This is how they wanted their wedding to be too. India told us she only ever looked at The Barn, Willerby, and when she went in she knew instantly it was here where she would get married to Tommy.
'Myself and Tommy was never into the thought of getting married in a castle or anything big, we wanted something with a chilled vibe very boho, country and raw.
That they did, and pulled off superbly. The sun was shining, the bifold doors were open onto the orchid, cocktails were being served from a converted horse box and garden games proved very popular. From arrival, it was clear India and Tommy's intentions were for guests to relax and have a good time.
We did ask India how she remained so calm throughout the planning process too.
"I was absolutely fine on the morning of the wedding, getting ready with my bridesmaids and my mum and sister was so amazing it really is just so special.
Then about 30 minutes before you’re about to leave everyone is getting into dresses, I’m getting into mine, I felt this huge butterfly feeling, I began to get nervous and that wasn’t about getting married it was about “am I going to trip down the aisle” “is everything going to be right” “will everyone be there” it was a bizarre feeling.
One of our favourite images from India's bridal preparation was the reveal to bridesmaids and another very special man in her life, her Grandad. Grandad's face says it all don't you think, need we say anymore?
There were many happy tears but India told us "The minute I saw Tommy at the end of the aisle, I forgot everything and everyone around me, you feel just like it’s you and them and that is just so magical. I was excited to watch the guests at our wedding, enjoying the day and eat the food, you feel so much love and see so much love. It’s truly wonderful."
We couldn't have summed it up better ourselves. It's so easy to get caught up in the day and the stresses the planning alone can bring, various opinions from friends and family but ultimately, like India said, the love you feel and the love you see in the room on the day, makes you forget about anything else.
When it came to styling The Barn, India said "I didn’t decorate the barn like some people do, I kept it all really natural with greenery, open brick, literally how it is, we’re not diamond and glitz.
Hull Pie did our full catering for the day, it was amazing! It suited our personalities and our whole wedding was very much us.
Florals were greens and whites, the simplicity did not compromise the beauty of these. The top table made quite the statement while guests tables had the most beautiful bud vases. India even made sure her sister, Maid of Honour had matching flowers for her hair piece, while the men had white rose button holes and dogs had floral collars all made by Bloom and Bridal.
Their love for all the dogs in their life was incorporated into their table plan, definitely up there with the best table plans I have seen to date, such an amazing idea!
India explained, "Our style was very boho and natural. My Elite Bridal dress was very boho, all lace with no accessories apart from my vail which was made especially with the same lace as my dress.
"My shoes were my something blue. I wore a pale blue Ted Baker heel for the ceremony and then as soon as that had finished I changed into my pale blue vans that Tommy had got me for the morning of the wedding. Literally the best thing I did was change into my vans, I didn’t have any foot pain whatsoever so was able to dance the night away, a highlight for our guests was our first dance to Bob Marley's We're Jamin', this really set the tone for the rest of the evening." Nothing but chilled vibes and a whole lot of love.
My main advice for future brides is to take a step back and enjoy your wedding, do not worry about things that are out of your control on the day.
We totally agree with this and think its clear to see that as long as theres love, nothing else matters!
