A Justin Alexander gown perfect for this Yorkshire Orchard Wedding - Emily & Sam

There are few venues that have as much beautiful outdoor space as there is indoor space, but The Barn, Willerby was able to provide Emily and Sam the ultimate ‘indoor outdoor feel’ they had been searching for.

With its ceiling to floor bifold doors over the prettiest of orchards perfect for portraits, it’s no wonder the couple secured The Barn, Willerby for their big day.

Having got engaged in one of the worlds most romantic cities, Venice, it was important the romance was reflected in the styling and photography on the day but luckily they had Tabitha Stark Photography on board who is a professional at delivering just that. You might recognise her work from our recommended suppliers page!

Emily said “ We met Tabitha and her husband David at a wedding fayre at The Barn. We loved how timeless, elegant and soft her photos were and after chatting to them we just felt so comfortable with them. They are such a down to earth, lovely couple and Tabitha takes beautiful timeless photos.

We knew we didn’t want to be stood posing for long periods of time, we just wanted to enjoy our day and let Tabitha capture the special moments and she did just that. We love our photos!!”

The prettiness and elegance continued throughout the rest of the wedding day too. Emily said “My mum is a florist so I have grown up to love beautiful flowers. Pretty, elegant and British grown flowers were a big part of our wedding.” The incorporated mauve, dusty rose and blush shades which were complemented by the ivory and gold accent too.

Emilys bouquet was soft, romantic and full of fragrance and the buttonholes complimented the bouquets.

She said “We had a stunning floral ceremony arch and a meadow lined aisle filled with the most beautiful delicate flowers that smelled amazing!! The meadow aisle arrangements were also used for our top table.

Emily explained the flowers used throughout our wedding were David Austin Rose Patience, Cafe Latte Roses, Garden roses, Lisianthus, Jasmine, Sweet Peas, Delphiniums, Campanula & scented herbs Rosemary and Mint. The ultimate British summer orchid wedding with help from Ivy Lane Florist, Sanctuary Flowers and Liberty Lane.

As for the dress, there are some designers that guarantee a timeless romantic look with every dress and Justin Alexander is one of them.

Emily said “ I knew I wanted something elegant and romantic when it came down to picking my dress but also modern. The neckline gave it a modern twist that a lot of dresses I tried on didn't have, which I loved. The train was my absolute favourite part, button detailing going all the way down. I wanted something that I felt comfortable in, could dance the night away in but still feel amazing at the same time”

The groom, groomsmen and fathers of the groom and bride all opted for a Navy suit and tan shoes.

Bridesmaids faulted such beautiful mauve floor length dresses which complimented their bouquets perfectly.

As for food, well this was really important to us. We wanted this to be the talking point of our wedding and still more than a year down the line people mention how amazing the sharing platters and graze boards are apparently all provided by no other than Anika's Apron.

"They served a huge bone in rib eye steak, chicken skewers, tomato and shallot salad

and Italian potatoes with a side of chimichurri & aioli sauce For dessert we had chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream with a salted caramel bourbon vanilla sauce The children had cute little pack up lunches which was a lovely touch" explained the couple.

As for the Cake, Emily said they had followed Juniper Cakery long before Sam even proposed so she knew exactly who she wanted when they booked the wedding.

"I wanted to create something fun but still keep to the style of our wedding. I have always loved Olivia Burton watches and asked if Juniper Cakery could incorporate this in the design of the cake. We went with a 3 tier cake which consisted of salted caramel, chocolate and Sicilian lemon sponge. The girls decorated the cake to match our colour scheme and added sugar florals, gold butterflies, a gold hummingbird and rough gold edging. Felicity and Krystle are truly amazing at what they do. They create such beautiful cakes that taste delicious.

The Kickstarts were the couples chosen band who had everyone on the dance floor from the moment they started, and to entertain the younger ones, there were garden games provided by Emma Lane Designs.

We asked Emily what other special touches they incorporated into their day and she told us

'We wanted to have our siblings be a part of our day. Sam had his brother as one of his best men, my brother did a beautiful reading by Bettie Meak called ‘The Promise of Marriage’ and we had Sam's sister as one of our witnesses. My Grandad passed a few years ago now but I still wanted to have something of him

with me on our wedding day. My Mum wrapped silk ribbon with a locket around my

bouquet which held a photo of my Grandad. It made my bouquet even more special to me and I would recommend anyone to do this who has lost someone close to them.

Congratulations Emily and Sam on your beautiful day!
